Day 2: Depart early this morning as we head north to Mackinaw Island and the Grand Hotel, the World’s Largest Summer Hotel with a porch that is 660 feet in length. The hotel, rightfully named, is the “Crème de la Crème” of hotels. For more than 119 years the Grand Hotel has provided a tradition of gracious service and flawless hospitality, preserving the best of bygone eras and blending it carefully with contemporary sophistication. From the unique island setting to Old World charm, the Grand Hotel offers a dramatic change from the typical hotel experience. All around you will discover the beautifully manicured lawns, colorful gardens and excellent recreational facilities that have made the Grand Hotel a resort destination celebrated the world over. A red carpet entryway welcomes guests into a splendid Parlor adorned with rich furnishings and priceless antiques of the Victorian era. Everywhere you turn, you will find yourself in a world “somewhere in time.” The Grand Hotel has the honor of being a U.S. Landmark, a place where elegant style and genteel grace remains a way of life. We also have time to spend in Greenfield Village, adjacent to the Museum. (B)
